![]() The Ship Inn and the New Quay are both local favourites pubs on the back beach in Teignmouth; they have good views of the estuary and are good places to watch large boats coming in or going away from the docks. ![]() There are some great pub restaurants particularly in Shaldon. The London Inn on the bowling green in Shaldon has great value food and the ferry boat has the perfect location sat next to the sea. The Owl and the Pussycat in Teign Street has some great organic and locally produced menus. The Ness Hotel is a fantastic location and excellent food. You will have to book though. Coombe Cellars is another excellent location just up the estuary. You will need to drive through Shaldon and then take the road to Combinteignhead. This has gone up market in recent years. It is in the same street as a pub called Diceys; this pub is normally very busy but has a friendly atmosphere and now doing food. There are two great Indian restaurants. The Taj Mahal is my favourite for food and price but Naz is a little more trendy. There are a large number of senior citizens who command some great value traditional cooking. The Dairymaid is probably the best and has a licensed restaurant/coffee shop/snack bar, that ofters quality personal service. The Beachcomber is a particular favourite of mine as it is on the sea front in Teignmouth and has a great view of the sea. This is a good place for lunch or a snack. Good value family food can be found at Trade Winds just off the triangle, South Pacific, The Boat House is a very good family restaurant in Dawlish Warren; it has a play area for young children and a children's menu. The Central fish café is a fish ‘n' chip shop in Teignmouth; there are tables to eat both inside and out. My favourite for the best quality is The Jolly Good fish café in Teign Street which also has the option to eat in. The Harbour fish café is another good fish and chip shop; this is also slightly closer to the back beach which is a good place to eat them.
